Our Board is made up of industry representatives from our member associations. They all bring a wealth of skills and experience to help identify the best causes for the Building and Construction Training Fund to support. The Board includes the following people
Kieren has a proven track record in the construction industry throughout New Zealand. Whilst running a number of his own businesses in construction, joinery and architectural products, he is also actively involved in the advocacy side of the industry. He is a National Board Member of the Registered Master Builders Association. Kieren has also sat on advisory groups for Auckland City Council, Site Safe, ACC Corporation and the NZRMBA, as well as working as a mentor for Business Mentors NZ.
Craig is currently General Manager of Building Projects for Hawkins Limited (Downer) – NZ’s largest Commercial Builder. Craig joined the Building and Construction Training Fund (Inc) Board in January 2023.
Craig has worked in the building industry since leaving school and has been with Hawkins for 19 years in a variety of roles from Site Management to his current General Management position. He is a Licensed Building Practitioner
The progression achieved by Craig has allowed him the opportunity to grow and understand what is important in our business, important to our clients and consultants. Craig lives in Auckland with his wife and two teenage kids.
Reuben owns and manages his own joinery business and sits on the National Executive for Master Joiners. His business trains BCITO apprentices, and he is assisting Waihanga Ara Rau in the Technical Advisory Group for unit standards in Joinery. He has over 20 years of business management experience from FMCG, Manufacturing, Heavy Industrial Engineering – servicing the construction industry, defence, automotive and off-highway equipment sectors.
Phil’s 40-year construction career started with an apprenticeship in Dunedin before moving through quantity surveying, project management and business management before he established Brosnan Group and Bettabuilt. These two businesses employ in excess of 300 staff, have offices in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown and have annual sales of almost $200M.
His governance experience outside of these businesses spans 12 years, largely in the not-for-profit sector including Directorships and 5 years as Chairperson of the Board. Phil is a Chartered Director with the Institute of Directors and joined the BCTF Board in January 2023.
Brian is an Independent Director and Strategic advisor appointed to the Board of Master Brick and Blocklayers in February 2022 of which he is the serving Chairperson. Brian has a wide range of Management having stepped down after a long tenure as Master Painters New Zealand’s first full time CEO, in September 2021. He has served on various boards over the years including Master Painters Services Ltd and Chaired the New Zealand PainterCraft Trust.
He plays an active role in the building and construction sector groups including the Masonry Trades National Advisory Group, ConCOVE Tuhura, Waihanga Ara Rua (On-site Construction Strategic Reference Group) and the Mason Trades Qualifications review panel.
Brigitte has been involved in the construction industry for more than 25 years, where her main focus has been active Fire Protection. She has been General Manager/Director of Triangle Fire Protection for over 15 years and thrives in the diverse challenges of running a large trade contracting business.
She is an advocate for Specialist Sub Trades understanding the majority of work on construction sites is done by sub-contractors. Brigitte has been a Director of Site Safe NZ Ltd since 2021, is a Director of Ahamo Ltd (a specialist Residential Construction company) and is a member of NZ Institute of Directors.
Brigitte joined the BCTF Board in January 2023
